Hallelujah winter is behind us! Now that the weather has turned warmer, people are looking forward to sandal season, which typically includes less layers and bathing suits. One of our favorite spring & summer indulgences is Root Beer Floats. Here’s how to enjoy this classic warm-weather favorite with fewer calories!
Low Calorie Root Beer Floats
A&W is our favorite brand for crafting our Root Beer Floats and at just TEN Calories per serving paired with fat-free Breyers creamy vanilla ice cream, this offered the perfect low-calorie solution we were looking for.
Simply pour Root Beer in a glass then top with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream and watch it fizz! Cutting out the calories did not sacrifice flavor. They were simply delicious, and a perfect afternoon treats while watching the boys play outside.
Root Beer Popsicles
Another favorite the entire family can enjoy is Root Beer Popsicles. This low-calorie treat is just 55 calories per serving!
Root Beer Popsicle Directions:
First I chilled the A&W Root Beer in the freezer for 10 minutes. Next, I poured Root Beer in 1/4 of the popsicle mold, followed by a small scoop of vanilla ice cream, then repeated the steps one more time. After removing the excess foam I used a straw to give the ingredients a quick stir then placed the tops on and put the popsicles in the freezer for about 4 hours.
Talk about the perfect way to cool down on a warm day! Need a solution for low calorie spring & summer indulgences? Swap your full-calorie sodas for Four TEN products.

It’s funny, but I only like root beer in a float. And, oh, yours looks SO good, I am thirsty just looking at it!

I’m making root beer floats with my family this weekend with A&W TEN calorie root beer, too! I’ve tried some ahead of time, though, and you honestly can’t tell there’s only 10 calories.

Oh my – these look delicious… AND, they bring back such wonderful memories. When I was growing up, we lived near an A&W drive-in restaurant. They kind where the servers wear roller skates and bring the food to the car. It was a huge treat!
I can’t take my kids to the drive-in, but I can make them these frozen treats. I know they will love them. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
