Mom I want to see that movie! It’s a reoccurring request in our home, almost weekly. At ages 6 and 9 the boys are avid movie goers, but this was their first experience with 4DX at Orlando’s Regal Pointe on International Drive. What were we seeing? The Emoji Movie, which just hit theaters July 28th. Read on for details about the film, and our review with the 4DX experience!
I was invited as media to cover this film. All opinions are my own.
The Emoji Movie
About the film – The Emoji Movie unlocks the never-before-seen secret world inside your smartphone. Hidden within the messaging app is Textopolis, a bustling city where all your favorite emojis live, hoping to be selected by the phone’s user. In this world, each emoji has only one facial expression – except for Gene (T.J. Miller), an exuberant emoji who was born without a filter and is bursting with multiple expressions. Determined to become “normal” like the other emojis, Gene enlists the help of his handy best friend Hi-5 (James Corden) and the notorious code breaker emoji Jailbreak (Anna Faris). Together, they embark on an epic “app-venture” through the apps on the phone, each its own wild and fun world, to find the Code that will fix Gene. But when a greater danger threatens the phone, the fate of all emojis depends on these three unlikely friends who must save their world before it’s deleted forever.
The 4DX Experience
Available in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, and Orlando, the 4DX experience combines 3D technology with realistic effects and moving seats. The motion enabled chairs create vibrations and movements throughout the film that make you feel like your part of the film! Additionally you have simulated weather, like lightning, smoke, and even bubbles that interact with the film too. If your movie has any water scenes, beware you will get sprayed, but there’s a button your chair to turn water off if you don’t feel like getting wet.
The 4DX presentation is for anyone ages 4 and up, and offers a one-of-a-kind movie experience! It’s not recommended for anyone who’s recently has surgery or suffers from medical issues that can be aggravated by motion.
The boys had a lot of fun watching The Emoji Movie in the 4DX theater. They laughed and enjoyed the ride! I can see this being a really cool experience for a Transformers film or Mission Impossible style film with a lot of action. If you’re looking for a good laugh, be sure to check out The Emoji Movie in theaters now, and in 4DX this week at Regal Pointe Orlando!
