“Although just moments from the bright lights and mega-resorts of the Las Vegas Strip, walking into Piero’s is like a trip back in time to “Old-style Vegas.” Casual yet elegant, patrons dine in intimate dining rooms surrounded by Aldo Luongo lithographs, original oils by José Bellver, and fresh floral displays scattered throughout the restaurant.”
Piero’s, a favorite haunt of the Rat Pack is just steps from the Las Vegas Convention Center. This hangout draws a mixed crowd of high-powered executives, to locals and vacationers alike, and at times Hollywood stars like Jennifer Aniston, John Travolta, and Shaq can be seen dining there.
Upon walking into the dimly lit restaurant we were welcomed by the sounds of their long-time pianist playing from the Monkey bar. As we round the corner into the private dining area there’s a second bar with multiple flat screen televisions, large round tables to seat eight and circle leather booths. There’s a second dining area with smaller tables and more booths as you continue through the restaurant.
My husband and I enjoyed a meal in the first dining area, which allowed us front row access to people watch and catch the games playing on the television screens. This Saturday evening, there wasn’t an open seat in the house.
Infamous for its traditional Italian cuisine and signature dishes like Osso Buco, Scaloppine Milanese and Linguine All’Aragosta, Piero’s menu is so popular that it hasn’t changed since the restaurant opened 30 years ago!
We started off the evening with a glass of wine and mixed beverage. One of the evening’s specials was a Ravioli Mozzarella appetizer that sounded too delicious to pass up.
The melt in your mouth ravioli made with fresh egg noodles and cream sauce, plus crisply fried mozzarella cheese was delicious and a great indication of what to expect for the rest of the evening.
Next we had their spring salad complete with tomatoes, fresh buffalo mozzarella, nuts, and oil & vinegar.
For the main entrée, I ordered the filet. The steak was mouth-watering! It included a side of veggies; stuffed tomato, potato ball, and grilled zucchini.
My husband ordered the veal chop, which was devoured, leaving only the bone on the plate.
During our meal, our server Scott dropped off a small casserole dish with Piero’s creamed corn. Let me just tell you, my “go-to” veggies are typically green ones like broccoli or peas, however I could not stop helping myself to more. It was the most delicious creamed corn I have ever tasted. I would return to Vegas, just to eat Piero’s creamed corn-no joke!
I had no room left for dessert, but certainly wasn’t going to turn down the opportunity to view their dessert tray. This girl does have one big sweet tooth!
Mmmm cannolis, fruit tarts, crème brûlée, cakes, and more. My husband couldn’t resist a traditional Italian dessert, Tiramisu. I couldn’t believe he had room left, but the goblet was empty within minutes. We topped off the evening with a suggestion by another server, Tim who recommended the Spark Plug. This long shot glass drink included vanilla liquor and espresso.
Everything was fantastic from the wine, to the entrees, to dessert, and who could forget the creamed corn! This old-school Italian restaurant is an absolute must when visiting Vegas. I guarantee your taste buds will thank you.
