Family Fun Cheering on the Orlando Magic Basketball Team

Having two boys you could imagine the role sports plays in our household. My oldest is so obsessed that he wakes up in the morning and unlike most five year old’s does not turn on cartoons; no he turns on Sports Center. That’s my boy!

Recently we were able to go see our hometown basketball team in action, the Orlando Magic. They are a young team, so their record is not stellar this year, but they do have some serious talent in Victor Oladipo and Maurice Harkless. Both are exciting players to watch. Oladipo has some serious scoring skills and is a great defender, while Harkless can attack the basket and has some great leaping ability.

To begin our evening our boys got their game faces on and J got a Magic print on his arm, while L got Stuff the Magic Mascot on his face from one of the tents outside the Amway Center. Next, there were contests to enter, wheels to spin, and lots of giveaways. Also outside of the Amway was a basketball contest where I shot 2 out of 3 and won a cow key chain from one of their sponsors. Then we headed over to the Magic tent and got some free samples and some Magic gear.

Once we were inside the Amway we headed to the 5th floor for Stuff’s kid zone with basketball hoops, inside jungle gym, and soft dodge balls. Our boys had a blast running all over the place, going down the slide and shooting hoops. Plus we had to play a little father son dodge ball. It was a great time.

After a quick stop at the concession stand for dinner, we headed to our seats. Once the Magic vs. Timberwolves game started we all cheered on our favorite team. The game went back and forth and needless to say our family had a blast! J was the biggest cheerleader in our section, screaming for his favorite player Jameer Nelson, and really got the people around us out of their seats. He cracks me up! We were elated to see the Magic win in this great back and forth game. The team even scored 100 points, so we were able to get 50% off of an online order at Papa John’s Pizza the next day. Talk about a nice bonus.

If you are sports fans and live in the Orlando area go cheer on your Orlando Magic. The season is almost done, but you are sure to have great family fun when attending a game, we sure did. GO MAGIC!!!
