Downton Abbey A New Era Movie Review
See your favorite characters return as the storyline builds upon the first Downton Abbey film and original tv series!
About the film: From award-winning creator Julian Fellowes comes the motion picture event DOWNTON ABBEY: A NEW ERA. The much-anticipated cinematic return of the global phenomenon reunites the beloved cast as they go on a grand journey to the South of France to uncover the mystery of the Dowager Countess’ newly inherited villa.
When granny sits everyone down to tell them she’s inherited a villa in France, her family is baffled. Her son Robert along with his wife and one daughter opt to travel to France to meet the owner’s son. Meanwhile, Lady Mary stays behind as she oversees the production of a silent film at Downton.
Enter Guy Dexter and Myrna Dalgleish – two big-time stars that will not only be filming on the property but staying there too! Some of the staff are beyond overjoyed when they hear about Downton being used for a film set, while others are astonished the Crawleys would consider such an offer.
What will the family think when they return from France and find Lady Mary in a predicament of her own? You’ll have to watch the film to find out!
Both storylines weave nicely throughout the 2-hour film, leaving fans both satisfied and heartbroken all at once. There are plenty of laughable moments and sweet ones too. This Downton Abbey sequel is one for the fans!
To me, it feels like Downton Abbey A New Era nicely wraps up the Downton story in a neatly placed bow. Will there be a Downton Abbey 3? We’ll have to wait and see.
