Exclusive Lady and the Tramp Live Action Cast Interview
When asked about getting involved with the film, Kiersey shared that she was asked by the producer Brigham Taylor to come in for a general meeting. She was unsure what film it was for or any details really, so when she met him at his office she noticed a bunch of arcade games and they ended up spending time playing arcade games while he got to know her as a person. And believe it or not a couple of months later she got a phone call that he was interested in her being apart of the film. Meanwhile, Yvette Nicole Brown was called in for an audition where she learned that her character hated dogs. As an avid dog lover, she found this to be a very difficult role to consider, but in the end she auditioned and shared, “This is one of the best auditions I ever had. The director was so lovely, and I got it! When the audition went well, he sent a letter saying he would love if [I] would come and play on this beautiful film…” Both ladies spoke about how unique it was to receive an individual letter from the director asking them to be apart of the film. When asked about a favorite moment on set, Yvette shared that when they were in downtown Savannah to shoot a few scenes it was so cool to be in 2018 and a few steps later she sees, “dirt roads, and horses, and buggies, and literally [it’s] like we were in another time.” Kiersey added, “I even took a photo of the pet shop where I was like, this is a cute aesthetic, and then I realized that the next day it was gone, and it was actually a chocolate shop.” We also asked if the ladies have a motto or something they tell themselves to bring the energy on set and Yvette said, “I don’t know how I’m here in Savannah, working with this wonderful woman, and doing a Disney film, so everything I get is such a step beyond anything I ever dreamed of. I wanna bring some joy; I wanna bring some laughter; I want everybody to have a good time; I wanna have a good time with you guys because I’m already beyond anything a kid from East Cleveland is ever supposed to be able to do.” We also asked the ladies what their favorite Disney films were growing up and Yvette mentioned, “I am a Cinderella fan because I love the idea of having nothing and building something amazing, and then coming kinda out of nowhere because you’ve earned it. I just think that’s the best way to live your life- work for something and earn it.”And Kiersey added that her favorite as a child was Alice in Wonderland.
