We recently got a new pet that inspired our next craft! The new baby tortoise we’ve named Lucky is so adorable and so is this DIY turtle egg carton craft! All you’ll need is a few items you most likely have in your craft closet, along with an empty cardboard egg carton.
Here’s how to make these DIY egg carton crafts!
DIY Turtle Egg Carton Craft
Here’s what you’ll need:
Materials
- Large egg carton
- Acrylic Paint (choice of colors)
- Pom poms for the turtle heads
- Googly eyes
- Pipe cleaners for the turtle legs
- Scissors
- Utility knife
- Hot glue gun (and glue sticks)
Instructions
-Cut out your desired amount of egg carton cups (we chose 6), then trim each cup so that they may lay flat against a surface.
-Paint each individual egg carton cup in a color of your choice and let the paint dry, then add details to the shell with a second accent color.
-To assemble the turtle, you’ll need a pom pom ball for the head, some googly eyes, and pipe cleaners for the legs.
-Glue every body part in their designated areas using your hot glue gun.
These egg carton craft turtles are just so cute! It was fun to paint each of them a little bit different – and you don’t need to paint them green – paint them whatever colors you’d like!
This is an easy hands-on project the kids will love! If you want to take this a step further, find an old cardboard box and make homes for the turtles. This allows for interactive play and loads of imagination too!
