Picking up where I left off (at the Disney Planes Pre-party), I made my way into the El Capitan Theatre and found my seat. The single theater included a large stage where an organ player welcomed us with Disney film songs. Once the multiple curtains were lifted, the Disney PLANES movie began. Read the full Disney PLANES movie review below!
PLANES is an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure about Dusty’s dream of competing as a high-flying air racer—and his decidedly unfortunate fear of heights.
Disney’s PLANES Movie Review
I was invited as media to attend a 2-day trip to LA for the premiere of Disney PLANES. All expenses were paid. All opinions are my own and may differ from your own.
Since Dusty (voiced by Dane Cook) is not “built for speed” because he is a crop duster, he enlists the help of his trusty friends, World War II fighter – Skipper (voiced by Stacy Keach), his mechanic – Dottie (Teri Hatcher), and his best friend – Chug (voiced by Brad Garrett) to help him prepare for the around-the-world race.
The film is perfect for the entire family. It’s a great underdog story, including many laughs, especially when El Chupacabra (voiced by Carlos Alazraqui) is on the big screen.
My only hesitation is the few scene moments where you see things from Dusty’s point of view. The twists and twirls of the camera can be a bit much for someone with motion sickness.
Overall, I really enjoyed the film and can not wait to take my boys to see it! It’s action-packed and full of fun! Head to this page for more information on the PLANES film, including a trailer and the full cast line-up.
Remember the film takes off in theaters today, Friday August 9th!

What an amazing experience. My girls loved the movie. I usually have problems with 3D movies, but I was fine with this one, thank goodness.

I’m looking forward to seeing the movie. Thanks for the heads up about the motion sickness during the scenes from Dusty’s point of view – that would make me sick, too. Now, I know to close my eyes. 😀

I think my son will really enjoy this. He loves CARS and he’s into almost any moving vehicle right now, so this will be perfect. I have heard some not stellar reviews, so it’s good to see you’ll still take your kids!

Yea I’ve heard some negativity from the critics, but that’s kinda their job: to be critical. It’s a fun family movie so I recommend it for families.
