Relieving Constipation in Children with Pedia-Lax Chewables
Over a year ago, my son’s tummy troubles caused us to seek a pediatric specialist. After a series of questions and evaluations, he was diagnosed with GERD (acid reflux) caused by his intestines backing up. Basically, he wasn’t going #2 enough or had trouble going #2 which caused the acid in his stomach to rise to his esophagus and when exacerbated enough, it would result in him vomiting. As a way to help with constipation relief, the pediatric specialist recommended a prescription laxative, along with an adjustment in his diet. We had to reduce things like tomato sauce, fried foods, chocolate, and juice (unless freshly squeezed) from his diet. They also recommended no soda, but he doesn’t drink that so it wasn’t an issue. At his most recent check-up, the doctor confirmed that L’s intestines were cleared and he no longer had GERD. We were to maintain his diet and use a laxative more sparingly, or when necessary. We’re now using Pedia-Lax® Chewable Tablets when relieving constipation for him, which (thankfully) isn’t very often.
