Working—or even thinking about work—24/7 is unhealthy. Occasionally, you need to take a break; otherwise, you will burn out, and once you burn out, it’s not beneficial for anyone. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my boys, but sometimes a break or “recharge” is necessary. It’s important that you take time out for yourself and even pamper yourself because you deserve it.
If you’re anything like me, you will probably feel a little guilty taking time for yourself, but you’ll soon realize it’s a good thing. Taking a break from life for a bit is not the end of the world, and the people who love you will not suffer for it. There’s no time like the present to give yourself that spa day you so deserve.
Reasons to pamper yourself
Love Yourself
Before you can truly love others, you need to love yourself. Sure, we all have that time when we don’t feel great about ourselves, but I know when I take time for myself, it reminds me that true love and happiness comes from within. Only in loving yourself can you truly share that love with others. So stop for a moment and smell the roses—or in my case, lavender. It’s one of my favorite scents as you could probably figure out from my lavender craft and recipe post.
Feel Renewed
My mind, body, and soul need rejuvenation from time to time. Pampering yourself gives you a fresh start, allowing you to tackle life’s challenges with a renewed vigor. Sometimes, when you face a challenge, you need to take a step one back to take two or three steps forward.
Respect
If you want people to respect you, you need to respect yourself first. Treating yourself to some time alone shows you understand the importance of you and your feelings. Folks who respect themselves take care of themselves; they don’t let others take advantage of them.
You’ve Earned it
Whether you’ve paid for your labors or not, you work hard and you deserve a break from time to time. A stay-at-home parent works as hard as someone in the workforce; some people work out of the home on top of that. Working non-stop only lead to stress; everyone else gets a break, so why not you?
Health Benefits
It’s been proven time and time again; stress is not good for your health. Increased stress could potentially lead to many health problems, even in the most seemingly healthy people. And I’m not just talking about physical health problems, taking a sick day now and then benefits your mental health, too.
Taking time to de-stress is also good for your looks. Sure, aging is still going to happen and eventually, we might see a wrinkle or two, but let’s not speed up the process! Slow it down by ensuring you take the time to pamper yourself, even if it just a night out at the movies. Speaking of the movies, check out my reviews of some recent popular ones.
True Happiness
As we age—yes, I said it—we don’t think back in wonder about all the work we did, we think about the good times we experienced with the ones we love or even the times we spent enjoying life on our own. Yes, being able to pay your bills was great, but remembering your son’s first steps or words, or your wedding day will be the moments you remember most. Take time out to enjoy your life.
Successful, seemingly stress-free people realize that they need to take a break from time to time and there is nothing wrong with taking time for themselves. It allows them to feel rejuvenated and refreshed. It shows love and self-respect for one’s self and it even has health benefits. Most importantly, true happiness can only be achieved if you focus on what’s truly important.
What’s your favorite way to pamper yourself?
Homegrown Adventures says
I love to get pampered. Don’t do it as often as I wish I did. I really enjoy going to a spa and receiving a massage.I feel so much lighter after a great massage. 🙂
Karen Glatt says
I like Pamper myself because it really does help me feel so much better. It really does make me feel renewed when I pamper myself.

I love the idea of pampering myself, and even get nice soaps, etc., then never do it! I’m never in the mood to take the time off to pamper myself, and it is all work no play, no fun. Yikes.
