Last month my son and I took a trip to South Beach, Miami for an enjoyable weekend on the water. Our beachfront hotel offered amazing views of the ocean and a pretty sweet pool as well. In addition to being there for work, I also scheduled some time with our cousins who live locally. J had no idea and when they showed up at our door he was giddy with excitement. J and his young cousins couldn’t wait to dive into the hotel pool and play.
During our stay we were lucky enough to be invited by Puddle Jumpers, who makes kid life vests, for a yacht day on Biscayne Bay. We spent some time testing out their new safety gear while jet skiing, boating, and wakeboarding. It was nice to take a weekend away and surprise my little guy with so much fun. We truly had the best time!
Don’t you love vacationing? You get to unwind and enjoy some of your favorite activities. For me, being on the water is really enjoyable, and something my boys have grown up experiencing. Every other year we visit my husband’s family in Chicago where we spend a week at their lake house. They have a pontoon boat for cruising the lake and a water sports boat for the more active family members. At night you’ll often find us barbecuing and roasting marshmallows by the water. Now that’s what a I call a great vacation.
What’s on your summer wish list? Will you be visiting a tropical location, or spending some time on the water? I recommend visiting DiscoverBoating.com for helpful tips and tricks when planning this summer’s activities.
Discover Boating is a great resource for everything from boat guides and rentals to marina locators and youth boating programs too! This national, nonprofit program aims to help people get on the water and experience the fun of boating while remaining unbiased. You may even enjoy these how-to videos as well.
So wherever this summer takes you, just remember to have fun and be prepared. Have a great summer!

Your trip looks so fun! I’m not doing much traveling this year because I’m pregnant and paranoid about the zika virus – probably doing an overnight at a local wate rpark though!

That’s understandable being preggers and all. A water park will absolutely be fun. 🙂

I’m not sure what’s on my list yet. I would love to take my girls to the zoo and an amusement park this summer though. That’s about all we have planned for now.

I got my boating license a few years ago but haven’t really had an opportunity to utilize it lately. I would love to rent a jet ski one day and take it out on the ocean.
