Recently our family was invited to Disney’s Social Media Moms Conference, which was an amazing experience and a great way to test out my new ACTIVEON DX action camera. When this baby got to our house I was so excited to try it out. Having the ACTIVEON action camera really opens up all kinds of opportunities for our family to record special memories that we have been unable to record in the past. For example, when we were invited to Discovery Cove, this would have been an amazing asset as I snorkeled through the coral reefs because the protective waterproof case of the ACTIVEON is capable of withstanding depths of up to 196 feet (60 meters).
As we explored the magical world of Mickey Mouse we were able to use the camera on Epcot’s Test Track and Soarin’. When we headed over to Magic Kingdom I was really excited to test it out on Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, and of course the newest edition to the park The Seven Dwarves Mine Train attraction. I was really impressed with the life of the Li-ion battery, which has a longer battery life compared to other action cameras on the market. It is capable of providing up to 120 minutes of recording time at 1080p 30fps which is enough for most outdoor activities.
The 2” LCD viewfinder was also very helpful because it gave use the ability to see our action shots right after we got off the rides. The boys got a kick out of seeing their reactions to the rides. The ACTIVEON DX comes equipped with full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, which is evident when you download it to a bigger screen. The image quality was impressive and will allow us to save these precious memories for years to come.
Once I figured out how to navigate through the settings I found the camera very easy to use. It does have a zoom feature, but loses quality when used. The camera creates two videos per recording. One video is for TV and another video to view on the LCD screen. This does take up a lot of space on your memory card, so make sure that you purchase a Class 10 UHS micro SD card, which is purchased separately.
The only issue that I had with the camera was the sound quality, which was very low, but I found that it came defaulted to 60%. Once changed it picks up everything. One of the coolest aspects of the ACTIVEON is built-in wi-fi and app that you can use to control your action camera like a remote control and automatically share your amazing pictures and films with your friends and family on social media. We love the action camera and think it’s one of the best on the market. Check out our video below:
