Before becoming a full-time stay at home Mom turned Lifestyle Blogger, I worked at the corporate office of a local credit union. The particular department I worked in was Card Services. Our department handled anything from ordering new debit and credit cards to fraud cases. On a daily basis I received calls from members concerned about unknown charges on their personal accounts and credit card statements. Sometimes our members would catch the unknown charges before too many withdrawals occurred on their accounts, while other times accounts were completely wiped out before they ever caught wind of any suspicious activity.
These situations were heartbreaking to hear about. The fraud process is grueling and often times causes financial hardship on innocent people. As the holiday season is upon us, more and more people will be using their debit and credit cards for purchases, including online. Sharing that personal information opens an opportunity for criminals to steal your account information, or worse-your identity.

I have learned how easy it is for a person’s identity to be stolen thanks to my previous job experience and learning from others mistakes. I am cautious when using my personal information online, however I can only protect myself to an extent. That’s why I’m so glad to have LifeLock watching my back!
Did you know that October is National CyberSecurity Awareness Month and National Crime Prevention Month?
I’m excited to share this wonderful opportunity with one lucky reader as well. All LifeLock plans are for US residents only.

My daughter and fiance’ just got burglarized a few nights ago and they took her security file box. It contained both of their birth certificates, her tax forms, her SS card, and medical information. They also stole two guns. It is so scary and she spent over 4 hours on the phone the next day talking to credit agencies, social security office, etc. plus getting a security company in to put in cameras and service. you really never know how a person can lose their identity. It’s not always this blatant, and can be done so easily online…there is WAY too much info out online now.
