Last week I introduced you to Spotlight Stories latest edition: #buggynight, and shared our first impressions with you. To review the 360-degree animated adventure we received a limited edition Buggy Night themed Moto X Smartphone. The creative packaging included with the limited edition smartphone set the tone for our incredible experience ahead. Each mason jar included a note and special experience to get us excited for Buggy Night.
The jar labeled “What’s in here?” turned out to be the home of the Squirrel, which we recognized from Spotlight Stories first adventure: Windy Day. Squirrel’s home was equipped with a solar panel under the top and after placing it out in the sun, the jar lit up through the creative construction paper inside.
The jar labeled “Open Me” included a forest setting and loveable green frog that held our Moto X Smartphone, which we would later experience Spotlight Stories Buggy Night on. The box also included two acorns which held the charger and other phone accessories. The entire experience from beginning to end was incredibly detailed, and displayed just how much thought the ATAP/former Pixar animators team put into crafting such an amazing animated story for their users. It’s a perfect meld of story/technology fused into one.
Once I turned on the Android device I clicked on the Spotlight Stories app. Buggy Night was not activated yet, so I clicked the top button on the right side of the phone to turn the screen off and then back on. I then saw a cute little bug run across the phone screen and clicked on the bug, which opened Buggy Night.
Without giving too many details away, I’ve included a few screenshots of the animated story during my first experience. The 360-degree animated adventure runs approximately 4 minutes in length and will leave a lasting impression with you. Jon Klassen’s forest design is compelling and really captivates the user. There’s no need to tap or slide your fingers across the phone, you simply move the phone (and your body) to follow the storyline.
My two sons, ages 3 & 5, couldn’t wait to get their hands on my new smartphone and experience Buggy Night for themselves. We are definitely a tech-loving family! Here are some highlights of their experience that I included in a video review below:
Talk about experiencing something through the eyes of a child. That’s exactly what the video above displays. The boys have asked to watch Buggy Night over and over, along with Spotlight Stories first release, Windy Day. It’s a great way to keep the kids entertained for a short period of time, like during a car ride, or in a restaurant when a mini meltdown is on the rise. Buggy Night is incredibly fun, entertaining, and will leave you smiling.
As I mentioned above, we received the limited edition Moto X Smartphone for the purposes of this review. I wanted to share some of the highlights from the phone that I really enjoy. Simply saying “Ok Google Now” followed by my command allows me to truly have a hands free device. I can command it to find directions, a phone number, and so much more. I love taking photos all.the.time. With the Moto X Quick Capture I make two twists with my wrist and the phone is ready to shoot. Speaking of pictures, the Moto X includes impressive Dual Cameras with a 10 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash, 4 X digital zoom and video capture plus a 2 MP front-facing camera with video capture. The camera quality is great and I really love the large brightly colored home screen.
I am very excited to announce that one lucky reader will win a Limited Edition Buggy Night Themed Smartphone so you may experience Spotlight Stories Buggy Night all on your own! Awesome right? Let’s give a big thanks to Spotlight Stories for the amazing opportunity.
