I participated in this program on behalf of Champions for Kids and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.
Did you know that 1 in 5 kids does not get enough to eat? Think about that for a second. How many kids are on your block? If you have just three average-sized families in your neighborhood, that means at least one child is not eating enough. A child that does not get proper amounts of nutritional food starts to see a decline in other areas, like school grades and health.
With the help of Champions for Kids, an organization that makes it simple to give children in communities the resources they need, Sam’s Club has put a call to action for customers everywhere to become a Hunger Hero.
Throughout the month of August, Champions for Kids, Tyson Foods, and KRAFT Foods can help you “Be a Hunger Hero” at Sam’s Club by purchasing any of these products at Sam’s Club: Tyson® Fully Cooked Chicken Nuggets 5 lb. bag, KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Dinner 7.25 oz., or CAPRI SUN Juice Drink Variety Pack – 40 pouches. With each purchase Tyson and Kraft will donate food to a child in need.
At ages 3 & 6 my boys are already eating me out of house and home. Feeding a family can be tough, but we can all make a difference. My boys don’t need a reason to dress up as superheroes, this is part of our daily life, however I did make a point to share details about how we can help our local community by giving back.
Like any good superhero, #HungerHeroes are bold, confident and even playful as they save the day in style. The boys were more than excited to purchase some of their favorite foods from Kraft and Tyson at Sam’s Club, knowing they were giving back to another family in need.
Also, join us for a #HungerHeroes Twitter Party! Here’s the details about the party:
What: More than 16 million American children live in poverty. For these kids, access to nutritious foods can be a big challenge. A nutritious, balanced diet that includes healthy meals helps equip kids to succeed both academically and socially.
When: Thursday, August 21, 2014, at 1p ET / 12p CT / 10a PT
Where: We’ll be on Twitter – follow the #HungerHeroes hashtag to track the conversation. You can see the details and RSVP via this http://twtvite.com/hungerheroes
Prizes: Five prizes will be given to randomly selected participants who answer the trivia questions correctly. Each prize includes a $50 Sam’s Club gift card (perfect for use in grabbing those great brands giving back this month)!
Hosts: @theMotherhood, @theMotherhood25, @CooperMunroe, @EmilyMcKhann
Do you like giving back? Have you ever considered involving your kids in the process?
