Talking about money should no longer be a taboo. We have to start the conversation and encourage one another. You can achieve financial independence once and for all! But how?
The #onUp Movement
SunTrust will unveil it in a TV commercial during the Super Bowl. It’s a movement of optimism to encourage millions of Americans to take control of their finances so they can focus on the moments that matter in life. Their goal is to have 5 million people take the pledge at onup.com and join the movement. Can you make the commitment? Yes, you can!
Head to the #onUp website and take the pledge. Next, take the Mental Wealth Quiz so they can outline specific actions, tools and tips tailored to your situations. Share your goals with custom photo collages across social media so others can hold you accountable, and join in the movement too! Having financial breathing room allows you the confidence and control so that you can save for goals and splurge knowingly on what matters most to you.
Years ago my husband and I made a commitment to one another to rise above the statistics. We were determined to start our marriage on a successful path. We closed multiple credit card accounts and paid down our debt. We were money concise and frugal. We couponed. We said no to things we didn’t “need.” Once the boys came along we were financially independent and ready for the added expenses that kids bring with them. Today, we use one joint credit card and pay that off monthly. We work hard for what we have, and thankfully the blog has brought many, many fortunate opportunities we wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford. We are instilling those same values in our boys so that they can come out on top too.
