During our family reunion in the Chicago area, we had the opportunity to test drive the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. Our family of four comfortably rode around the city and suburbs in this crossover vehicle. Some of our favorite features, which will be highlighted below, are the panoramic glass roof with LED mood lighting, smooth ride, and killer gas mileage. Those are 3 must-haves for any good road trip, am I right?
This is a partnered post. All opinions are my own.
We picked up the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport just outside the Midway airport and made our first pit stop for some milkshakes. Then we were ready to cruise the city!
Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Features:
- 10 year/100,000 mile Powertrain Limited Warranty
- Rearview Camera System
- Active Stability Control (ASC)
- Rain-Sensing windshield wipers
- 7 Airbag safety system
- 2 Smart Transmissions
- Eco Indicator Light
- FUSE® handsfree link system with Bluetooth® 2.0
- FAST-Key system
- Comfortable seating and much more!
Right behind the steering wheel is the Sportronic Paddle Shifters – Mitsubishi merged the thrill and control of manual shifting with the convenience and ease of an automatic. They let you downshift or upshift with a tap of your finger. I had never driven a vehicle with paddle shifters, but Nate was happy to test it out for us. He liked the ease of use and control of switching gears, without a full-on stick shift vehicle. By the way this is a completely optional feature, so you don’t have to drive with the shifters if you don’t want to.
All road trips need some amazing tunes and the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport doesn’t disappoint! The Rockford Fosgate® Punch premium sound system pumps up to 710 watts through nine speakers—including a 10-inch dual-voice coil subwoofer with Punch Control®. We jammed to some of our favorite songs on the SiriusXM™ Satellite Radio, which is included for the first 3 months of your purchase.
The All-Wheel Control (AWC) system continually monitors the road and intelligently transfers power and braking to the wheels with the most traction to improve handing and performance—without drastically reducing efficiency. This AWC system was top-notch. We had a smooth ride on all surfaces including some country driving we did to the family’s lake house.
Our week-long visit to the windy city and suburbs was a lot of fun. We enjoyed some amazing boating adventures too! Catch all of our family reunion fun in this post.
The panoramic glass roof gave us a surprise at night when the ambient LED mood lighting kicked on. That was a really cool feature! Safety is another important feature that I really appreciate in the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. It has plenty of airbags and technology to help you and your family feel safe.
Are you in the market for a new vehicle? Consider visiting Mitsubishi to test drive their Outlander Sport!

My car is a 2002 so it doesn’t have any of the newer safety features. I do have air bags.
