It’s official Apple will be releasing a new iPhone! The iPhone 5 will be taller, thinner, and faster. Here’s the breakdown on the iPhone 5 new features:
As expected, the new iPhone 5 will be 18% thinner than the iPhone 4S. Which makes it also 20% lighter. The Retina Display expands from a 3.5 screen to a 4 inch screen. That means there will be a fifth row of icons on the home screen. Apple also promises that wide-screen movies will display better, with 44% more saturation than the iPhone 4S.
The “iSight” camera stays at 8 megapixels. A dynamic light mode is new, and users will be able to launch photography apps up to 2.1 times faster. There is also a built-in panorama mode that stitches shots together for a 28 megapixel photo. The second front camera will now shoot a 720p HD video and it gets a backside illuminated sensor.
From Cnet.com: Inside, the iPhone 5 will debut with iOS 6 already onboard. Highlights include the new Apple Maps app, Passbook, shared photo streams, Siri updates, and the aforementioned FaceTime over 3G. iOS 6 will be available for download next Wednesday, September 19.
When will the iPhone 5 go on sale? Mark you calendars for September 21st. The new Apple iPhone 5 will be released in 3 different models; 16GB for $199, 32GB for $299, and the 64GB for $399. All will be available in black or white. The iPhone 5 will go on sale in nine countries: US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. More countries will follow my end of month. The nine countries previously listed can pre-order the iPhone 5 starting September 14th.

I really want to upgrade but since I’m moving out of the country next year it doesn’t make sense for me to do it until then. **Wipes drool off chin**
I want an upgrade too!
You are the first person to say the camera is getting an upgrade, from everything I’ve read. I wonder if it’s that much of a difference from the 4S. It really is the only thing I care about should I get a new phone! Christie
Hi Christie, thanx for stopping by!
The camera is getting some upgrades from what I’ve learned, but I don’t think it’s a great improvement from the 4S.
I’m eligible for an upgrade and I can’t wait! Unfortunately we’ll be out of town when they start shipping and don’t want to pre-order and leave it on our doorstep while we’re gone. Guess it’ll be the week after next before we get to indulge.
My upgrade isn’t until Nov….ahh I’ll have to wait.
I think I may be one of the few people left that have never had an i-anything (iphone, ipad, ipod, etc). Guess I need to catch up! Phone sounds awesome though – it’s so thin!
I wish I had an Iphone…lol
I am praying that Santa give me an Iphone! How I wish I had something more than my old flip phone that the tring tones sound like old atari music.
Finally read this post – I haven’t had an i-anything either, and feel so left behind! One day I’ll take a trip to the Apple Store and check ‘em out…
Looking back on nthis post, I have to say I winder why all the hype. Isn’t a phone a PHONE? Do you need to spend all that money for new “bells and whistles” that even at best don’t make your life better? My husband and Ihave cheap-o $30 phones we bought in 2010 and spend maybe $200 a year on prepaid time. No internet on our phones, nor email – it judt isn’t necessary!
